Amtrak train ticket question?

  • I have a ticket from city A to city B. Is there any way I can use this ticket to travel from city B to city A, in other words the reverse way?

  • Answer:

You've received some good advice, but I should add to Shaquana's response that you will need to be reticketed, particularly if the ticket is for an all-reserved train. If you were to show up at, for instance, Chicago heading to Austin with a ticket for the all-reserved Texas Eagle showing you riding from Austin to Chicago, you would likely be turned away, or at least sent to the ticket window to discuss the situation. Amtrak's all-reserved trains, are, by and large, running at or close to capacity and you need to hold a ticket for that train for them to let you board.

yes you can use your ticket in either direction its the value of your ticket they take accountable for. So if your ticket is worth 72 dollars and ya trip is the same fare its an even exchange if its cost a little more depending on the day and time you travel you just have to pay the difference. Also if it cost less you can get a refund or an exchange voucher.

you might be able to refund your ticket for a price of $30. I did that once. If the ticket didn't expire, you might be able to replace it.
