How do I get from Penn Station to Shea Stadium?

  • I am taking Amtrak train to Penn Station How do I get to Shea Stadium from Penn Station Is Grand Cetral Station close to Penn Station

  • Answer:

There are two ways to get from Penn Station to Shea Stadium. Option 1: Rail From Penn Station, take the Long Island Railroad's Port Washington Branch to Shea Stadium. The station is connected to the stadium via a footbridge (follow sign that says "Shea Stadium"). The fare is $6 one way peak $4.25 one way off peak, please buy you ticket at the station before boarding. Option 2: Subway Step1: take the uptown (northbound) #1, 2 or 3 trains (Red Line) from Penn Station to Times Square-42nd Street. Step 2: at Times Square-42nd Street, transfer downstairs to the Queens-bound #7 train (Purple Line). Take either the #7 local train or the #7 express train from Times Square to Williets Point-Shea Stadium. The station is connected to the stadium via a footbridge. The fare is $4 round trip ($2 each way), transfers between lines are free. I hope this information is very helpful. Good luck and enjoy the game. Native New Yorker

Take uptown (E) train from 34th St-Penn Station with stop at 42nd, 50th Sts, 7th, 5th, Lex Avs, 23rd St-Ely Av, Queens Plaza and Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Av. 2. Transfer to Flushing-bound (7) train. Faster option: 1. Take LIRR from NYC Penn Station to FLushing, then transfer to Manhattan-bound (7) or LaGuardia Airport-bound Q48 to Shea Stadium. If you going during the METs season, it's best to walk to 42nd St, and take special MET 7 express service to Shea Stadium or take LIRR Shea Stadium service. Port Washington also stop at Shea Stadium during the METs game.

what you do is go to the a/c/e trains or the 1/2/3 trains and take it uptown one stop to Port Authority (NY Bus Terminal). Then you transfer to the 7 train (it only goes one way - East into Queens) That'll let you off by Shea. Grand Central is on Lex Ave (4th and 3rd) and 42, Penn is on 7th and 34 - you can count the blocks.
