Answer:
Try taking the Wrexham & Shropshire Railways route from Telford to London Marylebone. Thet have very cheap advance purchase fares and you won't have to change at Wolverhampton or Birmingham as you will with Virgin. There are also some very cheap fares available on the Virgin route to Euston too. I think you're probably having troubles with the rail company websites which are quite complicated so why not purchase your advance purchase ticket from the station ticket office www.wrexhamandshropshire.co.uk www.virgintrains.co.uk www.railcard.co.uk

It can be confusing and I work on the railways! Does Telford Central have a travel centre or a fairly big ticket office? If so go there, you can talk to somebody rather than a machine, they will look up all the tickets available for the 16th of February on all services including the Wrexham and Shropshire railway into London Marylebone. They will sell you all the tickets available that you can get online and if you are unsure about anything ask them in person and they should put your mind at ease, and they are obliged to sell you the cheapest ticket, but do it quick if possible to get the cheapest tickets as once the cheap ones have gone, there are no more.

London Midland are cheapest so go o them but it takes longer if you don't mind look on their website or thetrainline.com

Don't buy them on the day. Buy them as far in advance as you can and buy the chapest you can. Make sure, however, that you are buying returns (some sites show cheap singles - they are fine, but remember you need one each way). Buy a railcard if you are going to do the journey often - they cost £26, so you do need to use them at least a couple of times within one year to make that initial cost worthwhile.

If you have a railcard then all the better. Please assume all prices do not have railcard. Also if you do have a railcard you can leave Euston in peak times on a saver ticket. I've hauled up advance tickets for £20-£30 each way on nationalrail.co.uk It seems you'd be best off changing at Birmingham and buying a return from Telford to Birmingham New Street for £8.40 and a return from Birmingham New Street to London Euston for £28.00. It's by far best to book in advance, the sooner the better - I've bought tickets 12 weeks in advance before
