Entomology: Will a mosquito bite an area of skin that is still inflamed from the bite by another mosquito?
-
Suppose a mosquito bites me and the region gets inflamed, will another mosquito bite on that region immediately? Or does it have some mechanism which realizes that the region is recently bitten?
-
Answer:
Whether or not the mosquito is able to tell that the site was recently bitten by another mosquito, she'll still likely bite once she's landed on skin. She'll also not worry about picking up germs from others who have dined there. I've raised countless mosquitoes, feeding many on my arm. Mosquitoes fed readily on spots where dozens had fed seconds, minutes or hours previously.
