Why is Yahoo 360 going to closing down?

Since Yahoo 360 is closing down; what other websites that people with a 360 account are going to?

  • I found out that Yahoo 360 is closing, any opinons about it ?

  • Answer:

I am in 360. I went to multiply, was there 2 days and got out today. Went to facebook, real problems there, I will stay with 360 to the end. I am in mash, love it there. I am in high5,great there. Please, what ever you do , "read the fine print" in the policy terms. I darn near got burnt . In multiply, I kept getting someones guest book, not a good thing, none of my business what goes on in their book, I was afraid someone would get mine.... I just up and got out. Again , I stress, "read" the policy terms...... Good luck

What other people call "closing", I call "reconstruction." To read my view of the situation and tips, see http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-4D4zxsg6fLRvC60pERfR7.8c?p=417 . Yahoo has decided to combine it's 3 services (360, Mash, and the regular Yahoo Members Profile) that basically accomplish the same thing (i.e. telling the world about yourself) into one service. They just haven't pinned down the "how" of creating this "universal profile". So, if there are things that you do like about Yahoo! 360 that you would like to see remain in tact, you should state those aspects on the Y!360 team's blog at http://blog.360.yahoo.com/product_360 . That is also where you can read about the changes in store for Y!360. However, many people are going to the startup Multiply.com . Some people are scared of change, some are fed up with Yahoo, some don't like the uncertainty, some feel that Multiply is an acceptable backup in case they don't like the changes, and etc. I am patiently waiting for the changes to come, which will be in early 2008. I just don't find it necessary to start jumping around to other services - especially new and unproven ones - yet. Just manually backup your content and there shouldn't be much of an issue. There may be some downtime at some point, but Yahoo claims to be creating a transfer tool to move your content & friends to the new platform. The 360 service is pretty buggy right now, but not impossible to use and it's still one of the securest networking services around.

Yahoo 360 is NOT CLOSING their plan is to create a "new universal Yahoo! profile" that will bring together many of Yahoo services in one place. I asked him, "wasn't that what Yahoo! 360 was supposed to be, thus the name Yahoo 360?". He said he wasn't sure because he had just started working for Yahoo in April of this year. He said that we won't be losing our blogs (heard that before), comments, and there will be tools to transfer our blogs when the transition begins, and perhaps the possibility to export blogs to other 3rd party services. Hmmm...sounds a bit vague to me, and it wasn't anything that wasn't already said before, except maybe the part about exporting to blogs outside of Yahoo. But even that was not a sure thing, just something they're looking into. The 360° Transition - Answers to some of your questions click on these links

It really doesn't make any difference to me at all. We still have yahoo messenger, with profiles, friends, photos, etc.... as far as I know. Plus, there's MySpace, Facebook, and many other social groups for special interests, which I have found are much more beneficial to me. Some of these groups include a several yahoo groups to which I belong. So.....not to worry.
