Do you find it odd that you have to wait at least 4 hours after posting a question to choose a best answer?

Not all ?s are so easily answered, so it is best to allow the ? to stay open for a while so a number of people can have the opportunity to respond. Considering that this is a global forum, I think the 24 hour rule wasn't so bad -- that way the question was available during an entire rotation of the earth. You can go to the question, scroll over the pencil icon in the button bar and click on "Add Details" then write a note to thank the person that gave the best answer and inform them that they will be chosen.

I sometimes wait 24 hours before I choose a best answer. It could just be that the answer that you thought was so great, wasn't that great after all.

But it gives othe rpeople a chance to answer... they may want to answer the question...

No. It used to be 24 hours. I have received answers after a day or two of my questions being up so it isn't odd at all.

I think its kinda annoying i guess yahoo just wants you to look at all your options before you choose the best answer,and allow others to answer the question before it closes so they have the chance because there is that possiblitily that thier answer might be better than a previous one that might of sounded good

If that happens I add details telling the person I will choose their answer later. The 4 hour rule is in place to prevent 'point gaming'.

While questions receive the bulk of their answers within 5 minutes, this allows for other people who may have a response to answer. You never know, at hour 3, someone could submit a spectacular answer that exceeds the rest.
