i just put your question to google and got a load of crap:) and no answer! so theres your answer
yeee haa
Good point. I think YA is more useful to get peoples opinions on different scenarios. Google is much better if you are looking for an answer to a homework question etc.

Good question. There are a few good reasons to ask on YA: 1. You get opinions instead of written answers. The answer you are looking for may be specific to your case, or an uncommon situation, in which case a community of answers will be able to help. 2. Participating in YA is a more active experience than just looking up the answer online. It's more rewarding to get answers from real people. 3. And of course, some people find it hard to use search engines, which rely on keywords instead of full sentences. People are often more comfortable asking questions as they would in real life, instead of typing in keywords to "trick" the search engine to find their answer.

When you are answering a question that is obviously a homework or project question. They do not want to google the answer as they want someone to put the answer into their own words so all they have to do is copy it for their homework and project. Much easier to ask a question and loose 5 points then to google the answer and work it out for themselves. Laziness I suppose is the answer to your question.

people are extremely lazy and they like the human interaction probably
Because it's nicer to hear the answers from their words (however badly spelt, which gives it more of a personal feel) rather than an impersonal web-site.

Because simply some people are to lazy to do a little research. Also - some people would use different wording for their searches for the same topic on google. For example searching for 'Stock Photos of Ice Cream' Yields 327000 results but by searching simply 'Ice Cream Pictures' you get a massive 15200000 results. Therefore some people may be looking for a simple piece of information but rather than search a few short key words they would instead key in a sentence such as 'Where can I ind free pictures of Ice Cream to use in a recipe book I am producing for sale for charity' which would get you no where on google but by asking the same thing on Yahoo answers you would get a personalised result directly linked to your question. But the real answer is : people always have and always will be lazy.
