Answer:
A catheter is a tube thin as a straw, that is inserted into the body. They allow drainage of urine from the bladder, and they also can be inserted into a vein, such as IV needle. They help to adminstrate fluids that go through that tube (such as water, medications, etc) I get them all the time as I have epileptic seizures and when admitted into hospital they give me a drip and of course the catheters through that. They are just tube needles that help to drain or inject fluids to or from the body., thin like a straw, as said.

In medicine, a catheter (pronounced /ˈkæθɪtər/) is a tube that can be inserted into a body cavity, duct, or vessel. Catheters thereby allow drainage, administration of fluids or gases, or access by surgical instruments. The process of inserting a catheter is catheterization. In most uses, a catheter is a thin, flexible tube ("soft" catheter), though in some uses, it is a larger, solid ("hard") catheter. A catheter left inside the body, either temporarily or permanently, may be referred to as an indwelling catheter. A permanently inserted catheter may be referred to as a permcath (originally a trademark). The most common type of catheter is that used to drain urine such as after surgery or for other reasons. A flexible tube is inserted into the urethra and run to the bladder so that urine can drain freely.

It's a tube with a needle on the end. The needle is stuck into a vein (or sometimes an artery). This allows a continuous stream of liquid to be infused. You know when you see someone with a tube taped to the back of the hand, and the tube runs to a bag that is up in the air? That's a catheter.

catheters are a tube that goes in the anus or vag/penis. if a patient cant get up to poop they shove a catheter in him and he poops through a tube into a bag.
