How dangerous is it being a immunologist?

I want to be an Immunologist, so what H.S classes should I take?

  • What kind of High School classes should I take to set me on the best path towards becoming an Immunologist? Thanks!

  • Answer:

As far as electives: -English: Literature, Writing/Composition and Speech -Math: Algebra I/II, Geometry, Trig/Pre-Calc and Calculus -Science: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science and Space Science -History: U.S. History, U.S. Government, Economics, World History and Geography A basic college prep curriculum should include 4 years English, 3-4 years Math, 2-3 years Science, 2-3 years Social Studies. You may wish to pursue the Sciences as your electives. You should sit down with your counselor and plan this out. It's more important at this point to have a well-rounded education. You still have to complete college and then apply to a med school. Many offer an Immunology program which comes as a Master's and doctoral program. You can declare your major in college.

Since you are just in high school, just concentrate on learning as much as you can. Make sure you take all the academic courses that you can like Mathematics, English, History, Social Science, Natural Science, Health class, Political Science (or American Government). If you can fit it in, I would take some trade courses like shop, home economics (cooking), auto mechanics, and maybe if they offer it, take a course on constructing a home. They used to do this at many schools but they probably cut back now due to budget constraints. Maybe if they don't offer this course, you could try volunteering for the Habitat for Humanity (if you want) to gain additional trade experiences. Of course, they may not let you construct a house, but they may. In high school, I feel that is the time of your life to learn as much as you can and when you get to college, you can and probably will re-learn most stuff that you have studied in high school but you will be re-fining your educational skills. Also, the more you learn the more you can relate with people with different types of skills which helps strengthen your customer service skills and everyone must have customer service skills.
