Why won't my Diesel Corsa start?

My Vauxhall Corsa C 1.7 CDTi (Diesel) has a poor start, any ideas?

    to me it really sounds like a fault with the glow plugs. I bet it really smokes bad when you first start it on cold mornings. I am suprised that there is no fault code showing though.

Could be EGR sensor; perhaps camshaft sensor. The new UK diesel MOT revs engines to the rev limiter several times for emissions test. Any MOT test centre can give you a leaflet. If the problems coincided with an MOT, I'd suspect that there was some engine damage from this. I had the same experience with a Ford TDCi, and ended up getting rid of the car, since it passed all diagnostics but started smoky, ran erratically when cold, but was fine when warm. Has new glow plugs, new injector unit, then gave up and got rid. A A
