Speaking as a current Grand Am owner and the previous owner of a late-model Cavalier (essentially the same car as the Sunfire).... go with the Grand Am. The Grand Am is bigger and handles better... it rides better... and I think it looks better. The V6 Grand Am would take the Sunfire any day when it comes to being faster.

If you want performance ..get a 98 to 2002 Firebird Trans Am..not too expensive..the Grand Am has a bigger engine but it's heavier...your Sunfire is lighter and modded up....the bigger car would walk the smaller car down if both were tuned up...plus you can throw a V8 up in there.
