2000 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI vs 2000 Pontiac grand prix gt?

  • how fast can a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI with a v6 engine and a 3800 Series 2 SUPERCHARGED go?and how fast can a 2000 Pontiac grand prix gt with a v6 engine go? which one is ...show more

  • Answer:

I have a 1996 Bonneville SSEI which was the first year for the Series 2 supercharged L67. I can tell from experience that a 96 SSEI will beat a 97+ Grand Prix GT coupe and sedan but it will loose to a buick GS and a GTP coupe but its about even with a GTP sedan. The 2000 SSEI is about 200 pounds heaver than the 96 to 99 SSEI. But if I had to guess I would say that the 2000 SSEI would be faster than the Grand Prix GT. The 96 to 99 SSEI is about the same size as the GP sedan and I have to say that my SSEI handles very well for a large sedan it also breaks very good as well. The newer SSEI is supposed to have a stiffer unit body than mine it also has wider tires and better brakes.

L67 is a decent engine. I would have to say that the SSEI is faster but off hand I don't know. In my opinion both of these cars are junk (so is the gtp). You might as well just buy a z28 or ws6 if you want power because they're not only more powerful but more reliable. If you want to talk better...you almost always go with the supercharged engine. But still...the boost is not as apparent as in most supercharged cars and weight is an issue.
