Pontiac firebird replacement engine?

Is it possible to engine swap an LS1 from '04 Pontiac GTO into a 2001 Pontiac Trans Am Firebird?

    It's possible, An LS1 produced by Holden Monaro Australia will require their harness & ECM. If I'm wrong one of these other @ssholes will let me know. :-) But here's the bigger question.....ready, The GTO is way better & is quickly becoming rarer now that high school ricer boys can afford them turning them into a gaudy Shxtboxes & then wrecking them, is this GOAT totaled? I'd sell the bird and fix the GOAT, of course that's only what I would do. It truly hurts my soul to see another one of the herd put down. Food for thought. EDIT: the 04 is not drive by wire, only the 05 & 06's are.

Yes it will fit, like the guy already said. I would register on a Pontiac forum and talk to them and see what they say.
