Will an msd ignition box increase the horse power of my 99 grand am?

I have a 99 grand am with a 2.4l engine and wanted to know if an msd ignition control box would increase the hp and if so should I get the MSD 6AL Ignition Box or the MSD 6BTM ...show more

i doubt it. ignition boxes were made for distributors that only put out 30k volts. your ignition coil puts out 80-100k volts. i think it would be a waiste of money. good luck

It won't increase the power enough for you to feel it or see any difference in gas mileage.

you do not need to buy a msd box! mds makes a drop on coil and module for the 2.4, to put in the box style you will have to lose the engine cover and the short wires and coils! just get the drop in and you will get up t 10 hp, if you did you exhaust, and not a tube but a real exhaust with a hi flow cat a 21/2 pipe a good muffler not a nois maker!
