Anyone own the pontiac vibe ? whats it like campared to the toyota matrix?

I work at a Pontiac dealership. I don't see the Vibes come in with big problems very often. I think it's a pretty dependable vehicle. Pretty comfortable to drive also.

They are the exact same car. The only difference is the front grille. In my experience the Pontiac costs more money than the Toyota. The seating position is more straight up and down, more like an SUV with your legs underneath you not out in front of you like in a car. The Vibe should be very good on gas since it's a small 4 cylinder engine.

I have a 2005 AWD vibe and I am very pleased. I had a blowout on a worn tire, and it didn't even swerve. My wife hit a deer with it and it didn't even swerve. It is the best milage you can get on a AWD without going hybrid. It is a little slow off the line, but I hear that the non-AWD types are pretty quick. I have the "moon and tunes" package, and the sound system can't be beat. Even with the sunroof open at 80 MPH I can still hear it, although it does not ahve a MP3 jack, maybe the new ones do. I have been able to modify the air intake a bit to make it a little quicker, and I have 60K on it with no major problems. The matrix is comparable, nearly identical actually, so go for looks. I liked the looks of the Pontiac better, so i went with it. Check matrixvibe.com

I have a Vibe GT. I'm a big guy (6'2" 260) and it is comfortable for me. I can't tell you the gas mileage but it seems pretty good. It is one of my favorite cars I have owned. Very reliable. Fun. Comfortable. Good storage space. Reasonable passenger space (excellent for a small car). The Vibe, I believe, is virtually the exact same car as the Matrix. Built in the same factory, with the same parts, and only minor cosmetic differences.

Same car, same motor, different name, different looks. I opt with the matrix though...just cause.

I have a 2004 AWD vibe with the Moon and Tunes package. This was 1 year before they added the subwoofer as part of the package. 29-30 MPG with AWD. We had a blizzard this past winter and I was able to get home with this through snow that would have stuck a 2WD version. It is comfortable to sit and ride in. With the seats folded down and can load a bunch of cargo in this, even an 8 foot stepladder can fit with the hatch closed. Very practical and fun car!. Hoping they still make them in 2008. The Matrix is a essentually the same care with some changes to the trim and sheetmetal, under the Toyota badge in place of the pontiac.
