Don't worry, don't panic. (which is the only epidemic sweeping these boards, the media and the world at the moment.) People killed by swine flu in USA today 0 People killed by cars.. about 100. Are you panicked by being in or near a car? At the height of the SARS outbreak, many, many more people were dying of ordinary pneumonia. But that wasn't "news". Let's get these risks in proportion. If you are young healthy at the moment the biggest single threat to your life tomorrow remains a road traffic accident. The data isn't in yet on whether this will be a serious flu outbreak. They happen periodically and statistically we are a bit overdue for one. It may not be this one. When it does happen, lots of people will die. Medical resources have been allocated to mimimise that. "Freaking" won't affect your chances, so why do it? Basic precautions on hand washing are a good idea, and anti-droplet face masks may become a good idea *if this develops*. Plenty of time to wait and see.

Don't worry about events that you can't control and don't worry about things that aren't directly affecting you in the present. If we all spent all day freaking out about every possible thing that could go wrong, none of us would be sane, happy or productive. Leave the freaking out to the media, fear mongers, and alarmists amongst us.
