  • Answer:

The drinking age in ALL of Spain, in fact, most of Europe, is 18. That means you have to have PASSED your 18th birthday. Being "literally a few months away from being 18" makes you TOO YOUNG TO DRINK legally. Are you asking us to give you permission to break the law and get someone who can't POSSIBLY find another job fired? Wow! That's COLD and SELFISH!!!! *edit* I´m telling you I never went out and asked anyone to break the law so that I could do something stupid like get drunk. My parents allowed me to drink a little wine at dinner, once a week, and I NEVER had the urge to go out and break the law in order to drink. Nope. Never went to a bar and asked them to serve me illegally. Never went to a liquor store and asked anyone to buy me cheap wine so my friends and I could go sit in the bushes and get sloshed. And NEVER did I ask someone to risk their livelihood, and the ability to feed their children so that I could selfishly go out and do something stupid. You realize that when that bouncer or bartender loses their job for serving you, they won´t get another one, cause unemployment is nearing 30%, and that´s REALLY high! right?

18 to buy alcohol anywhere in Spain. Some stores (especially those owned by Chinese citizen) are not very demanding and won't ask for your ID. Clubs: it depends, some will ask for your id even to get in, others won't.

Hello, The limit is 18. you should be fine in supermarkets and smaller bars, but not in big clubs and discos, these have licenses to maintain and will be sceptical if you look young.

The drinking age is 18, I understand they're getting stricter about enforcing the age in Spain and in Mexico. I know you wanna party, but you really must respect the laws in a foreign country. The economic situation in Spain sucks and jobs are VERY scarce... From your question, you don't say explicitly that you want to drink underage and get away with it. But it would be a really bad idea. Be grateful!!! You're going to SPAIN!!! I miss Spain so much!!!! I would give almost ANYTHING... alcohol... chocolate... for the rest of my life just to have one more day in Spain. I CAN return to Spain of course but I don't know when... I have so many financial responsibilities and Spain is oceans away. So, it's not viable now and it sucks because my heart is over there. I have to find the $$$ and time. Otherwise nothing would stop me. Just enjoy Spain, is my advice to you. I've never been to Salou, but I've been to Madrid and Barcelona. There's so much stuff... Museo El Prado... El Escorial... La Sagrada Familia... the Mediterranean sea. You are so fortunate to be going to Spain. I bent over backwards, risked my LIFE and ruined my health just to go to Spain for a month!!!! I mean you have your whole life to party, Spain is a really special thing that doesn't happen every day. Salou is in Catalonia... you know, the capital of Catalonia is Barcelona!! Damn girl take advantage, go to Barcelona, it's nearby, there is so much cool stuff to do over there. There is VERY little violence over there. But you need your wits about you anywhere in the world. Just watch your belongings because there seem to be a lot of pickpockets. I've given you some really good advice. Don't vote me best answer because I'm on here to help people out, I'm not a points queen or anything. But, you could reciprocate my kindness... you know... it would be a nice gesture. Could you possibly find me a boyfriend while you're over there? :) If you go to Andalucía instead of Catalonia... I would like one of those horsemen. I love horses and those guys are hot. Patriot, I'm not sure that this poster is implying that she wants to break the law, it could be she just wants to know if there is a legal way to do this. The fact that she asks how old you have to be implies that she doesn't know what is and isn't legal, and wants to know. I know that you have to be 18 to buy alcohol or tobacco in Spain because that's what the signs say in all the bars... "prohibida la venta a menores de 18." It WOULD be horrible to attempt to break these laws, I hope that's not what this person intends to do. It is possible that SOMEONE might be reading this, who doesn't have a conscience or who just doesn't understand how severe the repercussions could be for someone. People need to be aware of the consequences. When Patriot says that it's gonna be nearly impossible for that person to find another job, that is true, unemployemnt is nearly 30 percent and that is a shame. IF someone were to try to drink illegally it could cost someone their livelihood. :(I really hope things improve soon. :( Of course I had a little wine on holidays, under the supervision of adults, when I was underage. It's not the same thing as sneaking around.
