Alfa Romeo 2000?

I have a 2000 Alfa Romeo 145, engine No. 33503. The timing belt broke at about 20mph.?

  • I don't know if this engine is non interference or not, a mechanic in Milan said yes. What likely is the damage done and is it worth fixing?

  • Answer:

Off course it's fixable but the question is will it be worth it. I love alfa's and I always found it difficult to NOT repair anything because it are just such great cars... I would ask a couple of garages for an estimate, they differ greatly most of the time! Don't get ripped off...

You most likely bent the intake valves in the cylinder head requiring at least a valve job or reconditioned head in which case you will also need a head gasket set, most likely head bolts and new timing belt should get it in order its an expensive repair however on that kind of car it should be worth it.
