Answer:
You can fly direct to Málaga from JFK with Delta Airlines these days. You will get the best of the weather in the south of Spain. Anywhere between Alicante on the Costa Blanca to Cadiz on the Costa de la Luz, though the Costa de la Luz is on the Atlantic coast and can be a little cooler. Other parts of Spain like Barcelona can be warm if you are lucky with the weather. You should have a great time.

Being 9 days, I recommend you to visit at least this 3 cities: -Madrid: The capital of Spain. Prado and Reina Sofía museum, Cibeles, The Palacio Real, The Retiro Park and the Madrid nights! -Barcelona: You can´t go to Spain and not visiting Barcelona. It´s a magical city, You´ll see. Gaudi´s architecture is great, and the atmosphere os the city is amazing. -Seville: In Seville, besides being able to see a lot of huge monuments, you´ll have the chance of dancing the most typical spanish Dance: Sevillanas. And between Madrid and Barcelona, you can Stop in Zaragoza, host city of the Expo 2008 (but already finished by now), whose Pilar´s Basilic is great!

I agree that going south is a good option. I have to tell you though that Madrid in November can be quite rainy and cold so I don't think it's a good idea to come here. If you can fly to Malaga, do that, there're so many things to see in Andalusia, beautiful small villages, great food and the weather should be still OK in November.

I was originally from New York, too! I agree with dinodino...Madrid, then south, to Sevilla (my own second hometown) and Granada. I LOVE Ronda! Great little town! Merits anywhere from a day or two up to a week. Skip Barcelona. Go back sometime when you can spend about a week there and in the environs. It merits a second trip. And browse around the rest of the site he gave you...good food, there. Not terribly expensive. and you can get ceramics, there, too, though those have become quite pricey. Remember, you're heading into winter. Bring a sturdy coat. Not necessarily a winter coat, but I generally wear those three-in-one types...bring the fleece part or a fleece coat. It will be pretty chilly, especially in Madrid. Granada can be cool, too.

Go to Madrid and Barcelona. Once you get to Spain, use the train or public transportation to really get a good experience. If ur going with ur bf spend some days in Mallorca its an awesome island.
