take a trip to the pretty old town of jumilla which has an old castle with a great view at the top, nice old buildings, some very good local wine which is well known in the region and friendly and helpful locals. as suggested carthagena is a nice place and the train ride down to there is quite scenic. make sure you visit alicante which is only 50 mins on the bus as it is a great place to go to and has a beautiful harbour and the famous esplanada and some fantastic resturants, bars and shops.
