Can you get caught downloading files illegally?

Can you get caught downloading music/movies/video games if?

  • Can you get caught downloading video games, music, or movies if you burn all the files to a CD or DVD and then sell or destroy the computer?

  • Answer:

Anyone can get caught, but the RIAA and MPAA tend to only go after those that are trying to sell music/movies for commercial profit, or who are uploading those types of files for the masses. If you downloaded them for personal use, and didn't do either of those actions I mentioned, you're probably in good shape...

Anything you do online has the potential of being observed by others and stored in a log indefinitely. Always assume that someone could be watching you while online.

The chances of you getting caught for that kind of behavior is slim to none but I would worry more about the ip address over the physical computer.

It depends where you are selling it and where you are downloading it from. An example of how you can get caught doing this is downloading it from a website that police discovered, or maybe if you sell it at a highly populated area police could always be around.

Yes. If you download them, your ISP can report you. They don't need physical evidence to sue you.

probably. they can find anything these days. just buy them, don't risk it!

if you have the computer yeah you can get caught but if you dont have it anymore but they find it still and the new owner tells where you live you can still get caught if you have the cds so my advice is to not do it but if your going to anyway be careful and dont tell anyone that your doing it unless you trust them with your life.

Yes; actually the computer has nothing to do with it. they track you through your internet connection, and they still know your location whether you get rid of the computer or not.
