Why is the wind powerful enough to knock down huge thick multi ton trees but wont blow me away?

Dear the trees are knocked down due to their volume ( I dont think that you have enough volume as the trees have. :))

Trees have more surface area.

the wind is more powerful as you elvate in the air takes up a much larger space so it is easier to be hit by wind

as elevation increases, the wind factor does as well. on the ground level, the wind is at it's weakest point because things like buildings and trees slow down its force.

the trees offer more resistance with their branches catching more of the wind, so, the wind builds up, and if the wind is strong enough it will blow the tree away, and in other cases the roots of the trees are not that deep so, it gets blown away. if it is windy out, i would think that if you had a sail about 4 ft wide, and the wind was blowing around 50+mph, you would get airborne.

Stand outside in a Cat. 4 Hurricane and see if you make the same statement :)

stand on a big building in the wind and ull get blown away. bring a paracute or something so u can stop.

You'll need hurricane force wind to blow you away or knock over a tree. Okay, so actually, wind can't really blow you away per se; it can only blow you over. Because of gravity and what not. The wind doesn't blow up, so it can't make you float. Sorry.
