Where can I find an acting agent?

Where can i find major acting jobs for nick and abc? Do I need to live in the area? And do i need an agent?

  • I want to be an actress, I'm 14 and i dont have an agent. Any help here?

  • Answer:

You definitely need to live in the area once you get the job. They will not pay thousands of dollars to ship you out to LA or NYC. If you want the job, you have to get yourself to and from work. Major acting jobs are usually left up to agencies in LA and NYC. Agencies in any other city are usually based on finding jobs with local commercial spots and small, low-budget movie roles. Since you're going to need your parents to haul you around, you will need their support. I wouldn't advise that you start calling up places on your own, since you're underage and won't be able to make any kind of legal or safe deal without your parents. Ask them to help you get head-shots and make a resume and use those in order to find a good agent. Don't worry about not being able to start your professional acting career right now. Most successful stars don't begin their career until they graduate from an acting school. Right now, focus on graduating high school and becoming good enough to get into an acting school, so that you can have a lot to offer in a few years. For kids and teens, there is little chance they will make it unless they have a parent who is in charge of their career, and it usually takes them years to get a decent part. I hope that helps you out! Just be patient to start a career and use this time to enjoy your teenhood =) You only have a few more years of being a teen, but the whole rest of your life to be a star. I'm sure it'll only be a matter of time until I see you on the silver screen!

You can't. I know the person with all the blogspots is trying to help, but you couldn't get one of those auditions. You need to live in LA. You need an agent. You need experience and training. It takes years to become an actress. You don't start at the top with a major acting job. You start in the school speech and drama stuff and work your way up for a long long time.

Before you need an agent you need experience. (join a theater group etc)Then you get an agent. Then you take small jobs(maybe theater locally to fill time) to build a portfolio. Then you get some head shots done. Then you get auditions. Then you get a shot at a commercial/ programme. Generally it helps if you live near the area. Always have a back up plan. :):) Reach for the stars! ETA: The person is right below me. You don't need an agent. But you have to deal with lots yourself and won't get as many opportunities. And then if you do get a part even more will be on your plate and you will have to deal with it. So having an agent is better so you have some time to yourself. :)

Becky

you don't need to live in the area nor do you need to have an agent. but then having an agent makes your life easier. your agent would be the one responsible to looking for openings, auditions, stations to work at, salary and all those dirty works. lets put it this way, you wouldn't stand trial without an attorney, so why try to be an actress without an agent right? they do all the dirty work for you. unless you're one superstar actress, i suggest you get an agent to get you started. =] and goodluck on your dream of becoming an actress. well wishes to you =]

JoJo

of course you need an agent!

Join the theater department at you school and audition for every role that is "right," for you. You don't find major acting roles. When you are in a play, invite agents to see you perform. If they like you, they will ask you schedule a meeting with them (be sure to take your parents). Never go to an agent's office unless your mom or dad go with you.
