Well, I would start on my knees and ask Jesus to forgive me of my sins.. Seek his rightousness and all these things will be added unto you!!!!! Turn away from your wicked ways and Jesus will save your soul.....

Start w/ Community theater then go to profecinal! Every show you do will go on your resume! Start with some training as well-dance, voice and acting!

You need to get into every school play that you can, and do tons of community (local) theater. You must start at the bottom. Also, do you understand that this field is VERY difficult and few make it to the big time? You also need to take as many drama classes and acting workshops that you can. Eventually, you need to make the right connections with those who can help you along. And again, only a very few make it to the big time; most wait tables forever more.

minneapolis is phenomenal. get to know some people, bat around ideas and if you're artisitcally simpatico then find a venue. there are many that take a cut of the box office so you don't have to have money up front and you won't lose anything on the rent. don't wait to be invited, make it yourself. (fringe festivals are good as well)

the unfortunate truth is, waiting tables. you do realize that there are 200 of you for every available job/part. and you do need to eat. sorry, but you do need to recognize what's what. have you worked in small town theaters? you don't get paid much, but there's far less competition for parts. good luck. really.

By "beginning", do you mean geographic or pertaining to training? I'll talk about both. Read lots of plays and make sure you can perform at least ten different monologues (from various characters, at least one Shakespearean) on cue. Work to get as many auditions as possible so that you get over the nervousness, and hopefully get some acting experience. Acting classes are also helpful, even if you are already a gifted actor. As far as geographic areas are concerned, New York and Los Angeles (yes they do have live stages in Los Angeles) are good places to start. Just be ready to work at other jobs as well.

The best place to start is at the bottom. You're more likely to gain the experience and growth when you start at the bottom and work your way up. Nobody with any amount of talent has started somewhere other than the bottom.
