I am 15 going on 16. I want to be an actress Does anyone have an idea how i can get a jump start in my career?

one this i will say, im not sure if this has been said before, but if it has, i have to agree with them and then add my own insite.. ive been in the acting world sence i was 2 years old..ive done nothing more or less then a actress forever and ever... i will say because of that love and passion for theatre its opened a world of tech, lights, props, and direction for theatre..if you love acting, you need, in my opinion, to understand all parts of the theatre itself..learn what everyone does, as i tell the acting students i teach, actors and actresses are a sime a dozen, everyone wants to be a actress or actor once point in time, but honestly, a small fraction of them make it, now every single theatre in the world needs someone who can light the stage, sew the costumes, move things, create things, its more creative then being a actor, who is told when to move, how to move, everything long those lines, with those other jobs, still in theatre mind you, you get that wonderful creative world, but knowing that you will get a pay check in the end...if you love acting, you should love every part of it..learn all the parts, and while you wait for the big break, you can at least feed yourself..

Go to a school audition, that is where many get their start. Also, if you can sing, go audition for a professional or community theater group. Proscout is a great agency who does open calls where you can go and be interviewed, and if they like you, you can be invited to a conference where you can meet with acting and modeling agencies. Go to www.proscout.com for information on this. Lucky for you, you usually need a little experience, at least in school plays, to get through using proscout. Just audition for a local play and work up from there. I am young like you and started my acting career less than a year ago (well, one week less) and have now gone through community and professional theaters.

Well keep on doing the plays because finding an agent will be hard if they know you don't have experience. And in acting even high school plays count. So yeah, just keep doing that. You're still very young. And find out about universities that dedicate their classes to acting and stuff. Right now you can't do much. You need a lot of connections too.

I would have to AGREE with MJR! Stay in school but also check out a book called " Back To One" by Cullen Chambers, it would be sold at a bookstore called Samuel L French Bookstores. It is the actors bible book. It tells you EVERYTHING! Also try to remember to be perky, it goes a long way! That book covers everything from finding an agent to headshots to how much you would get paid on a set to getting into a UNION, I am in AFTRA by the way. I met a person named "Rock Riddle" all the way up to " Tony Terantino" I met him on Shati's on Main St. in L.A. California when the Acadamy Awards were going on, but I forget what year. Well anyways stay in school and get that DIPLOMA though, I hear Directors are a great supporter of EDUCATION! But now I am in San Diego, look how far that got me. Best of Luck!

Get into modeling, get as much work as you can. While you are modeling do all the plays, theatre that you can. Good Luck.

go to acting school. join the community theatre.

get parts in local and regional theater. then go to a modelling agency and audition for commercials
