What's the difference between business management and business administration?

Higher Education: Which degree is better, a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) or a Masters of Business & Management (MBM)?

  • A http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masters_in_Business_and_Management_(MBM) is also referred to as a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_of_Science_in_Management in some regions) I attained my bachelors in engineering in 2010 and have been working since. I'd like to enroll for a graduate program in Business Management / Finance by fall next year. To my knowledge, the only difference between an MBA and a MBM is that MBM degrees usually do not require the same level of work experience as an MBA, however the curriculum seems to be pretty much the same. is that all there is to it? Also do I have any third choice, if I'm looking to get accredited in the field of business management? Any insights and/or personal experiences will be highly appreciated.

  • Answer:

At least in the US, the MBA from an accredited university holds a great deal more weight than the MBM. I have a MBA and know many people in various business industries with MBA's, I don't know anyone with a MBM.

The name of the degree matters less than the quality of the school, but as verifies, we don’t encounter MBM graduates in the US.The organization you quote via Wikepedia’s MBM entry has accredited only one pogram in the US, but many in the UK.
