    you can practice your butt off at it like i do with snowboarding. and if your down to skate whenever and your always down to push your skills your not a poser, posers ride boards around and almost never truly "skate". As for your deck, its all about your personal preference.

Don't spend a chunk of money on your first couple of boards cuz u are gonna tear em up while u are learnin. But just go hang out around some skaters and watch em, then try some of the easier stuff first. there will be some good guys there that will give u tips. And there will probably be some jerks too....just life dude. U will pick it up quick enough. Don't worry about bein a poser. A poser is a fake. If u are learnin u ain't no poser.

your only a poser if you pretend your a skater, just practice and learn to balance. it takes awhile but you can def do it :D just go to a store and try some different sizes and test what your most comfortable with
