Answer:
i think your first board is not important. all youre gonna be doing with it is learning how to stay on it. id get a wide one to start out with 8"

I'd start out with a blank or shop deck from a skateshop; perhaps a 7.62 or 7.75 width. Since you are a beginner, it is a good idea to stand on the boards and get a feel for the width and concave. The guys at the shop can help you select the trucks, wheels, bearings, etc for the board you picked out based on the deck you selected.

I've know some pretty good skate boarders and they don't bother buying anything expensive because good skate borders break their boards. If you plan on doing that go to target and get something cheap, it's pretty much all the same, unless you have the money. A girl board (its a company) with black magic grip. Wheels thats all up to you there are several different types, 52MM are good for street skating. Ask someone at a skate shop what the would recommend for a new skater. Make sure they adjust the screws on the trunks to the way you want them, they help determine how easy the board moves . Have fun.

First: Safety gear (dont wanna be held responsible). Second: For me, it took me 3 days to get the hang of a ripstick. Try one.

I would get a cheap one to start with just to make sure you'll definitely stick with it.

My favorite was always a key-skate, disassembled and nailed to a piece of shelving board. Of course that was in 1963.....

Before buying a skateboard, buy the necessary protective gear so that you won't be so likely to get hurt if you fall. THEN consider what kind of skateboard to buy.
