I am looking for an airsoft gun that is more on the realistic side. Which gun would you recommend?

What's your price range? You can find both electric and gass blow back (They have a moving bolt that adds kick to the gun, but these can get pricey) M4's on Evike.com or Airsoftgi.com. Otherwise, those website will yield you some great ideas, brands, and guns. Not to mention the slew of parts they have available. But search around on ASF forums (Google 'airsoft forum'). It's an airsoft community of people who know what they're talking about when it comes to airsoft. Just make sure you specify what model of gun you like (You name it, airsoft probably has the gun, even .50 Barrets, scorpions, etc.) Then let them know the price range, where you plan to use it, and what you want to do with it later (Upgrades?)

You're not going to find any realistic gun at Big 5. The best gun that they stock there is the Cybergun M1A1 (thompson), it needs a little work and it will be a beast gun. While the most realistic guns are gas blowback rifles, these are incredibly complex and difficult to use, and are not recommended for beginners. If you have some money, get a KWA. These guns are some of the most realistic electric airsoft guns to look at. Otherwise, get a JG full metal gun, these are cheap and realistic. While JG has poor quality control, there should be no problem if you buy from a reputed airsoft store such as airsoftgi.com since they test all their guns before shipping.

Blowback rifles are by far the most realistic airsoft guns that you'll find on the market, however, they are pricey. actually golden, most rifles in real life arn't full metal so that wouldn't be the most realistic. (They are made out of polymer plastic btw.) I would recommend and blowback rifle. Gas would probably be the best as you can feel the rounds shoot off to simulat recoil but an electric blowback would be good for you as well. well if you want to spend the money, you can get this mp40 http://www.amazon.com/SRC-MP40-Airsoft-Electric-GE-640TM-III/dp/B002PMT3FY it is only 280 fps, but you can upgrade it. It is blowback so it will have a nice recoil. If you go on youtube, im pretty sure that a youtube channel called godsairsofters is making a review of it soon. if u want a realistic one then try looking up a blowback model they are the most realistic taking cos i think and as the name says for a pistol the top blows back and for something like and m16 the chamber blows back but other than that most airsoft guns i get that are good is at airsplat.com

WW2 guns that actually are good are hard to find, but wal mart has some M4 type rifles, a bunch of pistols and several brands of shotgun to get you started
