Answer:
the first thing I would do (sure I would run around in a boat and monitor the bottom depths and points, drop offs and shallow, rock piles and any feeder streams) I would if I could not do the aforementioned (not knowing any of that) cast a 1/8 ounce weight (from the middle of the lake) to feel the bottom for what could snag me if I decided to throw a crank bait (but in this hypothetical idea of wonder gamesmanship I would be in a boat) though I take it it's 18 feet deep and no weeds or trees or stick ups. I would face the sun and throw to shore a pencil popper trying to get it to land on the shores edge. The color is silver shiner and I would wait 15 seconds before twitching it into the water and moving it three inches and stop five seconds and twitch it ad stop I would make fifteen casts toward the ponds edge facing the sun. If no bites I would cast into the wind with a fat rap also silver shiner color then if no luck I would try a crawdad (color to match the time of year) and then move on to a frog pattern in as dark a color combination I have first cast let the ripples disappear and then twitch it using the zara spook to entice a top water bite and then lastly if still nothing the deep diving rattletrap color cut mackerel.

here is a simple crank and cheep too. the 3" rebel broke back minnow. the lure is a jointed lure works great in pretty much situation. in that type of water i would get a sliver and grey one. the one that i have that i use in this type of situation is grey on top and silver on back. it dives just about a foot under the water. not a hard lure to use just cast and retreive and you can even add in a little extra action when ya get used to this lure. just cast and retreive. easy and effective. the lure will catch bass large sunfish and a few times i have even brought in a couple of catfish. man i hope this helps a little good luck good fishin be safe remember to share the experience
