How do I replace the line on my Zebco spincast reel?

    You more than likely have a tangle in it somwhere or another. Unscrew the casing, then start pulling the line out with your hand. You should run into the tangle after pulling 20 or so feet of it out. Give the tangle a pretty stiff pull and see if it doesn't come out. If it doesn't come out, you'll probably have to break the line, then either re-tie your lure or re-spool the line, depending on how much line is left. Just to add a bit, if you haven't changed the line for a while, you probably should. Old line will cause a lot of problems for you. Look into Trilene, Stren, and Suffix brand lines, in the 4-6 pound range I'd guess.

The line may be twisted or tangled inside the reel. I would change line and perhaps use a lighter weight line.

Take your tackle off and loosen the drag so it pulls easy and pull out your line past the point that your best guess says its catching. Theres no way to know where that is for sure, it may not catch, probably won't catch, when your doing this. Be generous and go past it . Then making sure you restring through the eyes straight retie tackle and cast. It should be better. Theres several things this may fix. If it doesn't you might try restringing the reel with new line. Oil reel.

switch to an open spool. used to think it would be too hard but switched because i was tired of it always getting caught and now will never switch back

get a heavier bait or get a wight thats 1-2 onces heavier then your normal one

put a heavier weight on it ok put a lighter weight on it happy now?
