How can you catch the big fish in lake Erie?

How late can you catch fish?

  • I'm thinking about going fishing off of a dock in Lake Erie around 10:00 pm. Would this be too late to catch any fish? What time do fish usually stop biting at?

  • Answer:

They bite at all hours, just like ymusic022 said. After dark is a great time to go fishing, especially in the heat of summer. Stay warm and good luck!

well, really it all depends on you, how much cold could you handle in the dead of night??? That's something no one considered!! lol.

I love night fishing for catfish or crappie. Catfish seem to move around more at night and Ive had awesome luck with crappie too. One of my most productive trips ever was in Grand Isle(Louisiana). We hung a lantern from the bridge just above the water. First the bugs showed up, then the bait fish, then a feeding frenzie that lasted most of the night. We caught over 100 white trout, a couple dozen speckled trout, and several nice redfish. We had to take a break and put down our rods every now and then so we could drink our beer:)

Lake Erie. So you're probably going for Walleye? They bite all night long. Night time is when you catch the big ones so bring a net! Use live minnows on glow in the dark jigs with little propellers on them. You can charge it up with a flashlight. Good luck!

Some of the biggest fish feed at night , I have caught some big bass and my biggest catfish between 12 am and 4 am . Night fishing is especially good on heavily fished waters and waters with lots of boat traffic. The big fish come out after everything gets quiet that time of night and feed well.

anytime, depending on ur luck. the best times are before sundown, and early morning, like 5:00-8:00, when the fish are feeding. Noon (12-4) is when the fish usually stop biting.

I have caught fish at all times of the day as long as the skeeters don't get to bad. The fishing style changes a little but fish still bite. Top water works great at night because bass and other fish become very active. Also this is the best time to catch catfish with worms, chicken liver or other live baits. You can also catch walleyes with leeches, minnows and other baits. I have caught tons of fish in lake Erie at night, it can be just as good as day. Last year I caught a huge walleye on a small bluegill I caught earlier around 1:00 am right of the dock in about 15 feet of water.

Make sure it's legal first so you don't get busted. Certain times are better than others, but fish bite all night. Good luck!!!

Fish will feed most all the time. They feed heavier in the mornings and evening time.If you are going to fish from a dock take a lantern and hang it over the water. This will attract bugs and fish. The fish will feed on the bugs that fall into the water. If you drop your bait around that area you should have good luck.

Wondering

It depends on if you are in a boat if your boat has lights then you can fish all night if you want. If not then you will have to fish from the banks. But actually the best time to catch some fish. If you get a black light it a ttracts some fish. Hope this helps.....
