If you believe the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution you can.* Do you want to be a survivor or a victim?* Thats a question you have to ask yourself.* Every human being has a right to protect themselves from harm or death.* Permits or no permits.* Permits are not mentioned as a requirement in the 2nd Amendment.* " Live Free or Die."

It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. Be discrete and you will have no problems. Have a problem, and you will be ready.

Of course it's illegal and if you get caught you will more than likely get jail time especially in the woods. If the DNR finds you, your looking at real jail time. I would advise against it STRONGLY.

Carry a rifle or shotgun, in most states, carrying a handgun concealed (and in your backpack would count as concealed) without a permit is against the law. A misdemeanor in some states, and a felony in others. Check the laws in the state where you will be hiking and camping. Another possibility would be a cap-and-ball revolver. If you are in Bear Country, you'd need something along the lines of a Walker Colt Dragoon Revolver, or a 1st Model Dragoon Revolver. Both of these can be loaded heavy enough to kill a black bear, and if you are lucky perhaps a grizzly (but don't bet on it). If big bears are not a threat, a M-1851 .36 Navy Colt or an M-1860 .44 cal Colt Army Model would be lighter and still efective against mountain lions, men and other critters. Even with the blackpowder handguns, it would be a good idea to check state laws. Even thought the Yankee government says they are not firearms, some states put similar restrictions on them. Good Luck and have fun. Doc

Depends on where you are going. The National Parks won't let you carry even with a concealed carry permit. I suggest you call where every you will be camping and talk to the rangers or who ever runs it and find out from the source.

it all depends what state you are camping in here you would be fine.

Country

Its illegal. If you are concerned, you could purchase and carry a big can of bear pepper spray - it should work on two-legged intruders just as well as any four-legged ones......
