What's the minimum salary YOU can live with?

Minimum wage is currently $7.25 per hour, nationwide, and higher in some states. So with a 40 hour week, that's $15K per year. At $30K, taking out Fed tax, SS & Medicare, you'll take home about 80% of gross. If you've got state income tax, that's extra, maybe drop you down to 75%. And then, of course, there's optional deductions such as medical insurance, life ins, etc, any 401k deductions. $30K is less than $15 per hour, average. Not too good for a Bachelor Degree. You should get more than that for an Associate Degree, even just starting out. If I were a single person, $40K bare minimum and that's living a modest lifestyle, but still enjoyable. Walmart pays their lowest level salaried managers $40K, PLUS bonuses. And THAT'S without any degree. Still, remember that the "average" salary in the U.S. is just under $50K, and that's considering most of them are supporting families.

$30k after college? At least you don't have $100k in loans, but what the hell is your degree in? You can make close to $30k a year without a college degree (in some parts of the country). Anyway, as someone else said, I live in an expensive area, so $100k is the minimum to even rent a NICE apartment, have a NICE car, and then have spending money.
