Why are people more allergic to cats then dogs?

Why are some people allergic to cats but not dogs?

  • What is it about cats that causes the allergic reaction?

  • Answer:

People aren't allergic to the fur so to speak. They are actually allergic to the dander! Cats and dogs are different and produce different kinds of dander (proteins, etc.). Different things are also trapped in the fur as well, depending on where the pet goes (outside, etc.)
