How to Unclog a shower drain?

    Most drain openers don't really work well and Sodium Hydroxide (lye) is getting more and more difficult to find thanks to the folks making crystal meth. There is a product you can find at Lowe's or Home Depot called "Zip-It". It a piece of plastic, about 30" long with barbs down both sides and a handle at the end. You can stick it down the drain (sink or shower) and when you pull it out, it will have tons of hair and gunk on it. Clean it off and continue doing this until it comes out clean. No chemicals needed and it WORKS! And it costs about $3! I'll never waste my money on Draino again!

if there is a hair-catch plate covering the drain opening, try to take it off. cut at least an 8" piece of wire clothes hanger and make a 1/2 curve on one end. use it to fish out and snag up hair in the drain. then, pour lots of super hot water down the drain. draino and similar products are a waste of money and usually don't work.

Sodium Hydroxide. It is sold as Drano and Red Devil drain opener. Just be careful and don't get it on your skin as it dissolves organic material and opens up drains. Follow the instructions on the can.

the zip it works well but the clothes hanger thing works too just takes a little more time. If that doesn't help try power plumber it shoots air through your drain it worked for me.

If you don't have draino try using a plunger. This is also used for toilets but if your in hurry go ahead and use that.

Get a bottle of liquid drain opener. You can even get it at dollar store. Directions are on bottle. Put in drain and let it sit and then rinse it down. It happens to me all the time. It is hair and stuff in there.
