Who is this soccer guy Beckham who is going to play in the US?

Many great has-beens come to America to play after their prime. Pele, Beckenbauer, etc. They've all played here in their later years. There is a market for soccer, just not as big as Basketball and Football. Basketball is about as popular in Europe as soccer is over here, yet, you have plenty of good players coming out of Europe.

they claim he is like the micheal jordan of soccer. i watched his performance in the world cup and i was not impressed. he will play in mls and get owned.

David Beckham is going to leave Real Madrid CF in the summer & join Los Angeles Galaxy in the Major League Soccer.

That is one reason why he is coming...To boost the sports popularity a bit.

hes in his retiring stages (might be, might not) and many stars come to america to play in their last few years (ie, Beckenbauer). rumor has it that victoria beckham has been house hunting in CA....and beckham would get a lot of ppl to attend games. and stop generalizing...a lot of ppl in america watch soccer, not only little kids and foreigners. go to a dc united game and then we'll talk.
