How much water weight can you lose? I've lost 23 pounds and I don't know if it's water weight or what?

Its not water weight its fat weight =) thats actually a really good thing but if u think your arms and legs are not like jelly then its probz water weight and ask a doctor!

lots of people dont understand water weight. OK if u are eating lots of salt and not drink much water. u will have water weight. If u dont drink enough water. wen u do drink it your body stores it. Also for ever atom of sodium u take in ur body needs for 4 of water to balance it out. Witch is stored between the skin and the muscles. wen people are over weight its a combination of water and fat. i blame the american diet. McDonald's foods are loaded with salt. eat heatly n drink plenty of water.

that was most likley not water weight you can only loose that weight by not drinking it so that was probably your dieting taking its roll in your life so keep hydrated and drink liquids even if your trying to loose water weight because 75% of our body is water so if you loose any water weight you need to loose alot of weight before you get there but you are doing good with those 23 pounds that you dropped keep on trying and youll get to your desired weight!! :D

initial weight loss after starting a diet is from reduced sodium and water storage, plus some fat. you need to exercise and a have a cheat day or your metabolism will slow down and the weight loss will reverse.

The best way to tell if it was water weight, is to drink water. You should be drinking 2/3 of your weight (in pounds), translated into ounces each day. You weight 160 pounds. 160 x 2/3 = 106.67 ounces, or about 13 glasses of water. Don't get frightened by this number! A glass of water is 1 measuring cup. The standard water bottle is 2 - 2 1/2 cups of water! Also, some of that weight might have been muscle weight, not fat or water weight. To keep your muscles intact, you should not only drink plenty of water, but eat your weight in grams each day (160 grams of lean, low-fat/fat-free protein each day). Starting off, you will need to use a kitchen scale. But as you get accustomed to the portion sized, you will be able to estimate by looking at the size of the meal. You should be eating about 1/3 to 2/5 of a pound of lean protein each day. Check out eggs, legumes, fish, and poultry first. Then go to red meat as a last resort. Make sure you are getting 1200 calories more than you are burning as well! Any less, and your body can go into starvation mode! This will cause your body to burn your muscles as fuel, and store incoming food as fat for energy later! One pound of muscle is equal to about 600 calories. One pound of fat is equal to 3500 calories. This is why your body will break down muscle before fat, if you are not careful with what you are doing!

it depends on what ur diet is

My brazilian friend loses 4 pounds of water weight every time he goes training, he weights himself in and then he weighst himself after 2 hours of training to see how much weight he lost and it's most likely 4 pounds at the most, but he just gains it back the next day because he drinks a lot of water, so to answer your question, the wieght you lost was probably in fat and not water, you're doing good!
