Per my experience, the more you buy a ticket in advance the more you can save money. There are also last minutes offers but this would be too risky as you might not find any last minute at the right moment. This is the site where I have had the best airfairs flying from US: http://us.bravofly.com/vg1/home.do If you are travelling within Europe, these are the cheapest companies in my opinion: www.easyjet.com www.vueling.com www.ryanair.com In regards to accommodation i never book a hotel and I prefer to find a holiday apartment, this is the latest trend in Europe now. There are many reasons for this. First of all the cost for a short term rental is more or less the same then a hotel but in an apartment you have much more privacy and the feeling of being part of the city, being at home, more then being just a tourist there. Apartments are always different one from the other and hotel rooms are more or less the same everywhere you go. Last but not least, when you go to a hotel you are obliged to eat out at every meal spending a lot of money just for that. When you have your own apartment, even if a studio, you have your or own kitchen or kitchenette with your fridge. You can do your shopping for food at a supermarket and save a lot of moneyhaving better quality food this way. This is the best site in my opinion to rent a holiday apartment in Italy: http://www.apartmentforrentitaly.com/ Regarding Sicily, you can swim from May up to end of September and sometimes even mid October. The climate is very mild the entire year but in winter you might get a lot of rain. Regarding the prices for flights and apartments, a lot depends on when you go. If you go in high season, July and August, you would have the highest prices. If you go in low season (May, June, September) you would have the best prices.

Buying flights, hotel rooms. package trips in advance is always cheaper. You'd better use only reputabe websites when booking low-cost flights or package trips. Try http://www.expedia.no - I always use their services and I am pretty happy with what i get. See what the weather is like in Sicily during all seasons on this website - http://travel.nytimes.com/travel/guides/europe/italy/sicily/when-to-go.html and choose the month you'll love the most. Ive never been there so I cant tell you from personal experience but Ive heard it is a really, really beautiful and romantic city. Have fun!

As to travel let a travel agent work that out for you--it's free they want your bookings. Even the winter months are mild in the coastalresortswith daytime temperatures in the low 60s, or 15-16˚C, but inland it can be quite cold and stormy, with sufficient snow for skiing and sledging on Mt Etna. The rest of the year is a delight, though the temperatures in July and August can be very hot and dusty if the Scirocco wind is blowing from the Sahara
