  • What is the best hotel Near Vatican City, Rome ? How do we book a stay ?

  • Answer:

Hotel Pineta Palace is great. It is on the outskirts of Vatican City so it is cheaper and it is really nice. Our room had a view of The Dome at St. Peters. Great breakfast too. The hotel had free shuttle to the Vatican. Also a quick subway from ancient Rome. Book a stay on any travel website or Venere.com

The best place near the Vatican, is several stops away by sub way. The Vatican, while it is nice and a cool place to visit, it is extremely LOUD. I could not sleep at all in to hotel i stayed in, the crowds were horrible. You will want to get a subway map of Rome, then compare the location of the Vatican to where a possible hotel is. Do not get at hotel in the suburbs at any price, it's full of prostitutes and drugs

Hi there. Not all these hotels are near the Vatican, but just in case you cannot find one, you can check these out. It is always best to have a back up plan. Below I have given you tips on how to book a room. Hotel San Carlo http://www.hotelsancarloroma.com/index.htm Hotel Porteghesi http://www.hotelportoghesiroma.com/dintorni.html Hotel delle Muse Via Tommaso Salvini, 18 (Parioli District) 00197 Rome Italy Tel. Price range between 65 Euros to 280 Euros a night http://www.hoteldellemuse.com/ St. Moritz Hotel 51 Via Nazionale Rome 00184 Italy Tel.+ 39 06-48-68-90 Fax: +39 06-47-40-097 The Hotel St.Moritz is a 3-star accommodation located in the centre of Rome in a beautiful building dating back to the 19th century Price range 65 Euros to 250 Euros all year around How To Arrive at the hotel By Plane: From the Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumicino) airport there is a train every 30 minutes to the Railway Station " Termini ", or a taxi service. By Train: From Termini railway station to the hotel you have less than 1 km, therefore you can reach the hotel on foot. If you prefer you can take a bus (number 64 or 170). By Metro: The nearest Metro Station is "Repubblica", less than 300 metres far away from us. http://www.hotelstmoritz.it/index.html Hotel Italia Via Venezia, 18 Roma, 00184 Tel.+39 06-482-8355 Fax +39 06-745-550 http://www.hotelitaliaroma.com/ It is situated in the heart of historic Rome. Near the Spanish Steps, Fountain of Trevi, Termini station and the Colosseum. It located 3 blocks from Termini station. Price Range 50 Euros to 200 Euros I personally have stayed at the Hotel St. Moritz and Hotel Italia. I haven't stayed at the Hotel St. Moritz in many years. I like the location of the Hotel Italia and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I have stayed there several times. The hotel is not fancy, but I really enjoyed staying there. ***Some words of advice: Read reviews on the hotels, B&B's etc, where you are thinking of staying. ***The 110 Bus--This is a good way to get an overview of the city, but don't expect a full blown tour...the attractions are highlighted using a prerecorded message in several different languages (they provide headphones). I would only recommend this bus if you're nervous about getting around the city on your own. I would suggest using this tour on the first day you arrive so you can get an overview of the city and try to get your bearings. You can buy the tickets at Termini station. The cost is about 13 euros for a hop on/hop off tour or 8 euors for a non stop tour. ***It is well worth it. I rode the 110 Bus to get around the city when the distances to walk were too far. It is cheaper than a cab/taxi ride. You can get on and off all day. Please Read Vatican Takes Steps to Control Overcrowding http://travel.nytimes.com/2007/02/18/travel/18journeys.htm When Making Hotel Reservations Cover The Following Points: 1. Your dates, time of arrival, and the number of people. 2. The size and types of rooms (double, twin , extra bed, adjoining room, etc.) 3. Facilities needed: private shower, bath olr hall facilities (shared bathroom/shower if ok with you.) 4. Location of room: view, on the street, on the courtyard, etc. 5. The rates: Determine the nightly rate; whether there is breakfast included (I have heard mixed views on this. : Whether or not to eat at a hotel that has a breakfast(continental) or not to eat the breakfast (some say it is a good deal to eat at places with Breakfast (this way you have your first meal of the day and you are not feeling hungry when you go out on your day trip.) Others say , it is a waste. Check if there is a difference in price if you do not eat the breakfast.) Often just going to the local bar and having a coffee or cappuccio and a danish/ pastry with the locals can be cheaper and interesting. BREAKFAST- If you choose not to have it and it is offered be sure that is deducted from the quoted rate if possible. HOTEL TAX AND SERVICE RATE: Be sure that is included in the quoted rate. It is not always the case. Then taxes can be high. 6. Determine the deposit required and the form of payment. Do not forget to ask about the cancellation policy 7. Request a confirmation in writing from the hotel for both your reservation and deposit.Bring the confirmations with you when you are checking in at the desk. You may have to prove that you have a reservation and that you are not book in a more expensive room or that you are. When making Hotel Reservations by fax, e-mail, or snail mail. Remember to include anything above that is not mentioned on the form. Be very firm and specific. Helpful Hotel Reservation form. http://www.ricksteves.com/plan/tips/resform.htm
