Where is the best area of Taormina, Sicily, to stay in and why?

  • There are three areas: Capo Taormina, Porta Messina, Porta Catania. How do they differ and where is the `coolest` area?

    All three of those areas are good. The thing with Taormina is that it is such a small place that wherever you stay, as long as it is in Taormina then it is going to be fine. All three of those areas you name are right on the edge or in the main street which runs though the main village so it really is all the same. I stayed in Porta Catania and it was great.

i'm from catania and Taormina is all beutiful (sorry my english) there aren't best areas.I love giardini naxos (it's in the center of taormina ) because you can see the sea and also the mountains. this is the site of a good hotel! http://www.hotelsabbiedoro.it/en/ KISSES!!!!! Taormina is so small that it makes no difference in which place you stay. There is one main street in Taormina, Corso Umberto, and at one end there is Porta Catania and the other end Porta Messina. Honestly it makes no difference. There is no cool area too, as the town is small and walkable to it is not like there is a dodgy and a posh part - it is all the same! Where you stay should depend on the price you can afford as it is an expensive place :=)
