I'm 18 and I just went to Italy and I will try to answer your questions. But first off I think you should add Florence to your trip. If you go to Italy and don't go there that's a mistake it's my favourite place in all of Italy and it has a lot more to see than Venice and Verona. 1) Don't even bother taking a taxi in Rome or renting a car. Although a lot of the major sites are away from each other and not all are walking distance you should take public transportation. 2) People were telling me that I was going to get pick-pocketed and to watch out for my belongings but nothing happened to me. The people there were so nice. They actually told me to put my phone somewhere else because someone could take it. Also say you do get pick-pocketed don't take all your money out at once, leave the rest at your hotel so you still have money left over for the remainder of your trip. Be respectful. I say this just because there were so many people who were in another country and they were obviously American and they were being rude. Just consider your surroundings and think that you are in someone else's home. 4) The tower of Pisa is in Pisa not the places that you are going to. While Verona and Venice are close to each other Rome and Pisa are on the other side of the country. Anyways in Rome visit the Colosseum, the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, Sistine Chapel, the Vatican Museum and St.Peters Basilica. 5) I don't know what month you're going in so I don't know any festivals that would be happening 6) ....there's soooo many in Rome! Also a thing that I noticed when I was there the Italian women were sticking to their Italian men; no foreigners. This was only in one place though. But this was different for Italian men and foreigners ;) I met a lot of people while I was there. Anyways go to Florence. It's way better than Verona and Venice combined :D email me if you have other questions

You know, travel agencies get paid good money to do all that work. Damn dude........anything ELSE I can do for ya? Shine your shoes? Pack your lunch for you too? have ya done ANY research on your own?????? *Heavy sigh*.......okay, because I'm not as evil as all THAT.......(geeeshhhhhhhh!) Let's see here....I can help ya with SOME of that. 1. Transportation. Venice is essentially a walking town. Ya hoof it place to place. Gondola's, unlike the movies, are not for everyone. (well, they are,, but they are VERYYYYYYY expensive. ) Mostly a tourist trap, and for people with money to absolutely BURN. Water ferries are for us mere mortals, and a train will get you there. Rome has a subway that takes you whereever you want to go, and Verona has extensive buses....but also a nice walking town.....most all near the train station.....so, not to worry. 2.) How not to get pick pocketed, is by being alert, and not flashing your wallet everywhere you go. Crowded subways in Rome, ......you keep one hand on your wallet...and keep the other on your back pack......just in case......but millions of tourists visit there.....and it's not like Paris, where pickpockets reallly are brazen. 3,) Can't help ya. 4,) The Coliseum just had a chunk fall off from it, so I would expect that visiting hours may be disrupted.....while all that is being investigated. It IS essentially an old 2,000 year old pile of rock........so, yeah......not terribly "exciting"......but yup, there it is. Ya want excitement.........take the Cuppola tour of the Vatican. That will get your heart racing. You can literally stand on the dome of the Vatican, and check out the views you will get NO WHERE else in Rome.....as no building is allowed to be taller than the Vatican. I still think the Leaning Tower is cool....but you do need ADVANCE tickets, to go up. Like YESTERDAY would not be too early to book tickets, if you hope to see it this summer. Check their website....for how to purchase the tickets. No ticket, no trip up. 5.) Varies of course, again, a little reseach into those things would help here. 6,) Yes, all those places have nightlife and bars and nightclubs. In Rome, if ya wanna meet the locals, try hanging on the Spanish steps for a bit......grab a gelato....sit a spell, and try to catch the eye of a local lovely. Try NOT to be a total American jerk.....have a bit of class, and they may give you a tumble. The culture here largely revolves around EATING.....so try to avoid the McDonalds and Burger Kings, and try to the local food, at all times. If there's anything ELSE I can do for you.......make your bed or something.........please, feel free to email me, and I will see what I can do. The above is all honest, good advice. Have fun, and welcome to Italy.
