Which country is better to study fashion design?

Rome or Milan a better option to study fashion design for three years?

  • I want to study Fashion Design in Italy, my choices are either Rome or Milan. Everyone says that Rome is a better option as a city to live in but Milan is meant to be the fashion ...show more

  • Answer:

Milan is known for its fashion forwardness and for having its finger on the pulse of fashion. If I could choose, I would go to Milan. You can travel to Rome and other places around Europe as you like. Why try to recreate the NY experience? Enjoy Milan for what it is and accept it for that. You can't recreate NY in Rome or anywhere else because every place is different and you will end up disappointed. Don't set yourself up that way.

If you want to learn fashion, come to Italy and study in Milan. You'll never find a city like NY but the mood is a little bit the same. I'm italian

Dear Judith, for fashion design Milan is better! @Stavri is not trusted: he is a troll anti-Italian.

I studied for 8-9 months in Milan.. Truthfully, I never really got to make any friends.. My class timing were like just 3 hours a day, and so I did not really get close to anybody and also I could not speak the language.. I had to find another group of people from my country.. But most of the time, I was almost alone.. Not that I hated it, I like keeping to myself too.. But some people cant really take it.. But since you are going for 3 years, it will be very different for you.. My friend who was doing a 2 year course at the same time from a university there made loads of Italian friends and traveled a lot with them too. Also I tried to compare with these 2 girls I met once, one studied in Milan and was the other was in Rome (both Korean sisters) and they told me that Rome felt better.. Milan has as good of a fashion life and night life as Rome.. Milan might be a little colder whereas Rome is always warm (and I'm not talking about weather) Although Rome is mostly always crowded (in most tourist areas that is) I also heard staying in Rome is cheaper.. I paid around 520 euros per month (that is half rent, my roomie paid the same) sharing an apartment (2 rooms, 1 kitchen and a bathroom) with another girl in Milan, and the place was towards the north.. My friend who insisted on living close to her institute, in the center of the city paid around 1250 per month for a studio room (her entire apartment was smaller than my whole room!) I cant give you any information for Rome.. Anyways it is your choice.. Both cities are almost equal in terms of fashion.. Just remember, if you do go to Milan, be open to make friends..

I prefer Rome because it is much cheaper compared to Milan

me live in italy and there is no fashion in me country. me live in milan and rome and there no fashion they both bad places no more fashion in italy me agree with stavri go to greece or france for fashion because me live in italy and italy cant afford it no more

In case you didnt know, Italy has been decreasing in Fashion since 2008. It is no longer the Fashion Capital of the World. If you want real fashion, I would go to either France, Greece, or Germany. Italy is no longer the fashion like it once was. Their country is drowning in debt. and they are more focused on paving the roads there. If I were you, I would decline both offers and go to Athens or some other place.
