I'm shifting to Bangalore. Which is the best locality to settle down in Bangalore for a 'Work from Home' person?
-
I am shifting to Bangalore in a couple of months. Work from home person. So which locality offers this mix - not too expensive (for Renting) at the same time not too far from the major city activities. Prefer South Bangalore. Thank you

Answer:
JAYANAGAR A 2010 survey by DNA Bangalore ranked Jayanagar as the most liveable place in Bangalore. Being one of the greenest localities in the city, the Jayanagar layout is interspersed with parks and playgrounds that attract people from all age groups. Jayanagar I Block is primarily a residential locality. It is a very quiet place and quite a contrast to the rest of the city. Jayanagar IV Block is well known for its shopping, restaurants and fast food centers. There is Inox multiplex which has 4 screens. Jayanagar is also an educational hub surrounded by many colleges and institutions Being at the southern part of Bangalore,(which will serve your purpose) with a lot of major employers opening office locations in south Bangalore, and with a series on new malls and multiplexes coming up in its vicinity, Jayanagar has maintained its desirability for the upwardly-mobile, family-oriented and bachelors.

If you are working from home and none in the family need to worry about daily commute or you live alone ( I am a little jealous) where in Bangalore to live depends on your interests If you like culture (classical music, theatre) typical charming bangalore neighbourhood.. Average cost of living then malleswaram, basavanagudi, jayanagar are good options (renting is good, buying property is prohibitively high) You can be nearer to these places by staying in areas anywhere around 4km-8km also If you like dining, night life indiranagar, koramangala are good options (renting is little above average, buying is very expensive) Malls and stuff I guess is near white field, HSR layout etc. do check if you have reliable water supply though If you like big houses and quiet sub urban living then Bangalore north towards airport is a good option If you are a sports buff, choose a place with lot of sporting options within the residential complex. Sports authority or India near Bangalore university also has good facilities If you like outdoors like running, cycling again I suggest bangalore north nearer to airport / Nandi hills Hope this helps

Thanks for the A2A! Since you said South Bangalore, JP Nagar (Phase 2, 3, 4, 5) should suit you the best. BTM would be better if you are single, but it has become very expensive. Residents of JPN are mostly real "Bangaloreans" who own their own houses in allocated plots and hence there is no substantial crowd of people as you see in BTM or any IT corridor. Streets are leafy, quiet and the people are very nice. You will find plenty of 1 BHKs with a large balcony (terraces converted into accommodation) to rent in the area which is ideal if you are single. You will hve two mall+multiplexes in the vicinity, plenty of eateries, the 500 and 365 bus routes in the neighborhood. Prices are reasonable. You could try in Jayanagar 9th block also, or even the other Jayanagar blocks but they have gotten expensive. Stay away from Hosur road and Madiwala. Koramangala is not of the old, it has become horribly crowded and expensive. Hope this helps and all the best! :)

1.Indirangar 2.Koramangala(Both can be a bit costly,as theyre the "posh" areas. There is a variation in rent prices within each block) 3.Wilson garden/shantinagar/Adugodi areas-Theyre close to Koramangala, and very much accessible to most areas in Bangalore 4.Ejipura/Viveknagar areas are'nt bad either 5.Jayanagar is an excellent option, but the rent prices may be high 6.Marathalli 7.HSR layout is also advisable.its a developed area which is presently preferred in Bangalore Obviously,if you were to share the place,it would cost you less than usual

Bangalore is not a centralized city any more. There are malls and "major city activities" every where. Indiranagar and Koramangala may be more expensive but posh options. Jayanagar and J P Nagar are somewhat (just a tad) outskirts and possibly less expensive. All of these are good options to live. PS: I have written the answer based on personal experience. I am not a property expert or dealer. I understand anecdotal answers like mine have their own value, but must be taken as tentative.

I don't know about other localities, but BTM is great for a WFH person, it has good market and you need not deal with traffic as you will be at home. HSR is a good option is you want peace and quiet. It is more suited for families with children. Rent is on a higher side though, be ready to pay 12-13 k for a 1 BHK.

If you want to be in the hub of http://www.pikkol.com/packers-and-movers-bangalore with a glittering nightlife and high-end shopping options, then you should live in an area in the heart of the city (Indira Nagar) If you can't really afford to pay skyrocketing rent, but don't want to miss all the action then you must choose Koramangala. It is close enough to the heart of the city and yet have those few quirky attractions. HSR is suitable for those with larger families. The rents are affordable. There are good parks and malls around. This will also be a well-connected locality. Kengeri/Devanahalli are the areas suitable for people who love tranquillity and nature. This is where you can comfortably retire and settle down. Also do not get fooled by random packers and movers like i did an year ago.For a hassle free shifting use pikkol. com. They have registered packers and movers on board.

I know most people would disagree to my answer, because the place I wish to talk about doesn't excite the nerves of a person staying in Bangalore. I had stayed at a place called Anand Nagar, which is near CBI which is near Mekhri Circle, which is a not so popular place with a "no glam" factor like Koramangala/Indita Nagar/BTM/Jayanagar Pros: 1. It is close to Majestic (approx 9kms, 30 minutes by BMTC bus) - A bangalorean will tell you the significance of each km in day to day commute 2. Close to Shivaji Nagar/Brigade ROad/M.G.Road (again approx 9kms, 30-40 minutes by BMTC bus) 3. Close to the Airport (28kms as opposed to other "famous" locations) - You reach your home 1 hour before others (You'll get fresh, have something to eat and plunge to sleep before other even get out of their cabs in other parts of Bangalore) 4. Close to Old parts of Bangalore like Yeshwantpur 5. Close to Palace Grounds (1-2 kms) - You may have an added advantage of not having to worry about finding a late night cab or bus after a musial concert or exhibition 6. If you need malls, Mantri mall is only 30 minutes away 7. All other things that you require for your day to day life are available at walkable distance and are muc cheaper than other parts of Bangalore 8. Close to Manyata Embasy Business Park, a tech park that houses a lot of corporates like IBM, ANZ, Philips, Nokia Siemens 9. Most importantly, rent is much much cheaper than other parts of Bangalore Cons: 1. Your friends might call you a villager for residing there 2. If you think you'll get to see lots of hot chicks after you wake up, you might be disappointed 3. Not much young crowd like BTM 4. Lots of dogs. Seems like everyhousehold has one, add to that plenty of street dogs 5. Real estate brokers may give you a tough time (but I guess this is applicable across Bangalore)

Living near Sarjapur Village is going to be beneficial as the budget rent flats. So when working with a startup and working from home and not too far from city will work out. It is better than living in jaya nagar primarily as the rentals are freaking high for the quality living one gets in south bangalore.
