Yes November is a good month. Maybe you will not se much of the famous Italian Sun, but you will get a taste of the country in itself. As Italian born it’s year that I avoid going touristic places in the touristic season. I am tired to see only the top of a monument behind the backs of a hundred of Japanese tourists. You can get rain, wind and cold weather especially in the north. May I advise to skip Cinque Terre? Not because the place is bad, but there you NEED Sun. Just for a taste of Italy you will need 3 weeks: 3 day for Florence, 5 for Rome (allowing in this period a trip to Naples) 3 for Venice plus one apiece for Bologna, Ferrara (an absolute MUST SEE – it’s midway Florence and Venice an there is THE BEST FOOD IN THE WORLD), Mantova, Modena, Padova, Verona (with a stop in Vicenza). This makes 17 days! Have a nice trip. And use the train.

all good places to visit but if you can also travel to amalfi coast...absolutely use trains....rent a car is too expensive....november isn't good imho so much better december...november is one of the worst... :-))

peace forever

We are planning a trip there for October-November, and just want to share one thing we just found out - if you want to rent a car, it is MUCH cheaper to rent it in France, and probably even Germany. There are surcharges in Italy. We are flying in and out of Florence, but if we knew about this we probably would have gone in and out of France or Germany instead. If you are renting a car for more than 2-3 weeks, you can lease one for much less. This is a program out of France, even though you can take advantage of it in some Germany cities, and even some Italian cities (just not Florence).

Hello, I am Italian and I come from Lombardia, in the province of Monza&Brianza. It depends on where you go. Here in northern Italy is not beautiful, but I think in southern Italy, central Italy and Sardinia to be quite beautiful.

Y@#00! an$w€r$

I wasn't going to answer given the wealth of responses you've already got, but I just wanted to correct the last post: February is the worst month! November can be sunny and bright, so warm by day and cold by night. Of course, an entire week of rain is possible so it's pot luck
