How many days do I need in Venice?

    Venice is definitely worth a visit. How much time to spend depends on your interests and exactly when you'll be here. The Biennale will be running this year - the main area are in the Giardini and Arsenale, but there are installations all over the city. I usually spend three or four days in the city just for this over the course of the summer, but you don't need to see everything; you can cover quite a bit in a day with another day or two for sightseeing. The Doge's Palace and St Mark's are both worth going inside. There's a nice small museum upstairs in the Basilica. If you're interested in the glass making, go to Murano and you can take a vaporetto to Burano as well. There's a lot to see just walking the canals and bridges. If you're planning your trip for July, there are spectacular fireworks for Il Redentore

'is it really worth going?' the place is completely unique, absolutely stuffed with wonderful churches, and as well as the central city the islands make a great trip as well, Burano and Torcello were so different and beautiful. To stand in San Marco and then see the horses and the frescos was the fulfillment of a lifetime ambition. however if you want 'attractions': zoos, slides, waterparks and funfairs then it would be completely the wrong place for you. I would like a week there, budget permitting. With a chorus pass to get round on the boats and into the churches.

WOW! Is Venice worth seeing?? You bet it is. It is such a beautiful place. Besides all the places the others mention - just to walk around and get lost in all the streets, walk around the canals, just sit there and watch all the people go by. I was there two days and wished I had had more time. You will not regret including it in your itinerary!
