  • Answer:

there are many train stations in paris. gare du nord goes to london, but for italy go to gare de lyon. gare de l'est goes to zurich and munchen. take a train to either nice, cannes, marseille or direct to ventimiglia (you might have to switch many trains). the point is to get to ventimiglia/vintimille and this is the entry into italy. but go in the morning cause the last train is at midnight, its a small station and there arent many hotels in this town, so its not nice being stuck and wait until 5 for first trains. from ventimiglia dont go to roma termini, unless if you do want to see rome. this route is too long for venice, so go to either milano centrale, or bologna or verona puorta nova. and then take a train to venezia santa lucia. btw venezia mestre is a city before the actual venice, so its a good connection too. thats all I know. oh and eurostar trains are very fast but cost 100€ from paris to nice. just take high speed trains, sleep on them and you can save on hotels. thats what I did. for more info ask at any train station. they speak english.

Fly from Paris to Northern Italy - you can try to have a very good occasion on cheap airlines. Than go by train to Mestre - I can recommend Hotel Plaza. Do not spend any money in Venezia , except for traveling by Vaporetto and entrance tickets to Museums.

overnight trains are really cheap. http://www.eurorailways.com/products/night_trains/paris_to_venice.htm this pays for hotel and transportation... i think its only like 30 pp

That's a very long trip by train - around 10 hours depending on which train you select. Have a look at http://www.tgv-europe.com/en to get an idea of times and costs.
