Why do my arms feel so weak?

Why do some people feel mildly electrified whenever their arms bump into each other?

  • I'm not sure if electrified is the term, but my friends and I usually feel a sudden sting (similar with the one you feel when you accidentally touch something with electricity) when our arms bump into each other. This usually happens whenever we are in air-conditioned places.

  • Answer:

It is because they have different "levels" of electrostatic charge on them. if this is the case, then a spark is produced to even out the electrostatic charge between them when they get in contact. It happens maybe more in air-conditioned places because the A/C dries the air, which contributes to the static electricity to stay on you (and the other person). The way you get static electricity on you is when you rub with another material (it could be as simple as waling, brushing against something metal or woolen).
