What is the legal age of purchasing alcohol and tobacco products in Italy ( specifically around Turin)?

If you can reach to insert money in the Cigarette Dispenser Machine, you can buy tobacco. lol If you can reach to grab the drink on the bar's counter and pay for your drink, you can also reach for your drink. lol Just remember to retrieve the bar's receipt, in case you get checked by the Guardia Di Finanza = Italian IRS/Tax Police. lol Buon viaggio. it's 18 for both of them. in disco club during the ski season it would probably cost around 8euros for a cocktail. alcholic drinks from beer to wine and stronger ones can usually be found in every shop or minimarket. they shouldt give them to younger people but it's probably easy to buy. tobacco is sold only in specialized shops. that said ski resort are far from turin, the nearest ones takes around an hour by car, so you will be in the small mountain towns, like Oulx or Sestriere. Remember that if you doesn't have the legal age you could get lots of problem if they found you drunk. Also it's pretty dangerous to drink in winter mountain. police and security are really worried about young people from anglosasson countries. in italy the approach to drink it's different, this year also there were a lot of mortal incident caused by the incapacity of northeners to resist alcol. skiing incidents, not car's.

18 is technically now the legal age............but it's pretty stupid as there are cigarette machines all over at night and a 5 year old could use them. You would also not have much problem buying alcohol if you were 16 or 17......most don't really care.....but the legal age is 18.
