What is the difference between an illegal worker and a U.S. Citizen getting paid off the books?

Citizen was born here, did not go to say Canada or the EU to get paid illegally. Our econmy is ours and is precious, even if we fecked everyone to get it.

the illegal citizen is already breaking the law by being in this country, that only makes it worse. while both are not paying taxes, the citizen has a right to be in this country, but if caught he could face fines and jail time.

Not much, except that illegal workers are much more likely to send a lot of money back to their family in their native country, whereas a US citizen will likely keep it here... when he/she spends that money, it gets taxed. But in reality, it isn't much different. Good point.

Perhaps you mean Illegal ALIEN worker? An illegal worker could be anyone who was violating the law in some way -- including a U.S. Citizen getting paid off the books (which is very illegal -- and makes them illegally employed and an illegal worker). The focus these days seems to be on illegal aliens (that is, people who have entered the country illegally) holding down jobs. However, ALL workers avoiding taxes for ANY REASON are, by defiintion, illegal workers. Illegal: Against the law. Behavior that can result in either criminal sanctions, such as prison sentences or fines, or civil sanctions, such as liability or injunctions, is illegal.

Everyone should have to pay their taxes. To not pay your taxes is illegal. You should not get the same benifits as your neigbor if your not payin taxes. Although I would like to pay less taxes and bring home more money to spend on my kids....I feel that money should be taken for things we regularly use...our kids schools for one. To cheat the system makes you a cheater, the same as someone who soaks the system.

The undocumented worker is breaking the law just by being in the country. A citizen is only breaking the law when he/she commits an illegal act. I'm sort of curious as to where you would deport citizens who do not pay taxes.

The criminal(illegal alien) sends money OUT OF THE USA.... the legal US citizen spends the money here.... as far as taxes... have you ever considered that it is the government cheating the citizen?
